How long does a bespoke suit take to complete?
The entire process typically takes between 8 to 12 weeks. This encompasses the initial consultation, drafting the unique paper pattern, cutting the cloth, and accommodating two to three in-person fittings. Expedited services may be available for returning clients whose patterns are already on file.
What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure?
Made-to-measure utilizes preexisting block patterns altered to your measurements, and the garment is typically machine-made with a fused canvas. Bespoke involves creating a pattern from scratch, cutting entirely by hand, utilizing a floating canvas, and conducting multiple basted fittings to sculpt the suit.
Should I bring my own shoes to a fitting?
Yes. It is highly recommended that you wear the dress shoes and dress shirt you intend to pair with the suit. This ensures the trouser break and sleeve length are calibrated precisely.
How often should I dry clean my suit?
Rarely. Dry cleaning utilizes harsh chemicals that strip the natural oils from wool, reducing its lifespan. A high-quality suit should be dry cleaned no more than once or twice a year unless heavily stained. Instead, rely on thorough brushing with a natural bristle brush and airing out the garment after use.
Can I supply my own fabric?
While we source exclusively from the world's most prestigious mills, we occasionally work with vintage or client-supplied cloths (CMT - Cut, Make, Trim) provided the fabric meets our structural and quality requirements. An initial inspection is mandatory.
What happens if I lose or gain weight?
Bespoke garments are constructed with generous inlays of fabric within the seams. This allows the suit to be let out or taken in by up to two sizes. Altering a bespoke suit ensures it evolves as you do.
What is a floating canvas?
A floating canvas is a layer of horsehair and wool stitched securely but loosely between the suit's outer fabric and the inner lining. It provides shape, structure, and a beautiful lapel roll, conforming to your body over time, unlike glued (fused) interlinings which remain stiff.
Do you offer vegan bespoke options?
Yes. While traditional tailoring relies heavily on wool, silk, and horn buttons, we can source heavy linens, cottons, bamboos, and utilize corozo nut buttons alongside synthetic canvases to create an entirely vegan bespoke garment.
